This boutique property is a stylish Southern Suburbs bolthole.

Banksia Boutique was once a beautifully proportioned old home - owner Shelley, who is also an interior designer, has restored the space into a smart and sophisticated place to lay one's hat. It's convenient in that it takes just 20 minutes by car to get to the airport, the city or nearby Cavendish Square, the glossiest mall in these parts. Certainly the smartest overnight stay in these parts, it's a popular bet for travellers who enjoy the home-from-home service and the laid-back luxe atmosphere. The bedrooms are spacious and conveniently there are a number of boardrooms for meetings should you be in town for business. You'll love the peace and quiet this eight-roomed property offers.

Location

Rosebank is one of the Southern Suburb's grittier suburbs with pockets of pretty. Banksia is situated in a quiet residential road.

Bedrooms

There are eight, individually decorated en suite rooms, each dressed in soothing tones and tactile finishes - think padded headboards and a mix of elegant fabrics and contemporary furniture. I loved my room with its balcony and mountain views and I think this is definitely the side of the property to ask to sleep on.

Public areas

The undercover pool area is a popular place for down time while the lounge feels like a welcoming living room in one's own home. There are two rooms that can be booked for conferencing or private dining.

Eating and drinking

Feast off the café-style breakfast menu and let the staff order in supper should you not feel like dining out. Functions such as High Teas and dinners can be arranged.

Leisure facilities

The conservatory-like pool area is a good spot for chilling out.

Service

The service here is what you'd expect from a small and considered owner-run property - personable and eager to please.

Who stays there

Business travellers, older couples and those seeking respite in the city.

Pros & Cons
