It's all about convenience. Located half a kilometre from the best beaches in Cala d’Or, walking distance from the marina and downtown area for shopping, restaurants and bars, you don't even need a car.
Each modern and spacious apartment has one double bedroom and a large living-dining room equipped with two sofa beds. Added bonuses are properly furnished terraces, cable TV (handy for rainy afternoons) and free WiFi (even handier for keeping Facebook-obsessed teens happy).
The advantage of being in an aparthotel is that you have your own space if you want it. But there is no shortage of space and facilities if you feel like being more sociable. The lounge bar is rather plush by chain standards and a pleasant place for an evening drink. And there's a good play area for smaller children.
Eating and drinking
Like the rest of the hotel one senses quality when it comes to food and drink. The restaurant has more atmosphere than most choosing terracotta coloured walls and black and white prints to give it a bit of oomph, plus the buffet-style supper ensures there's something to suit even the fussiest of eaters. The weekly ‘gala dinner’ is good fun if predictable - think paella and sangria - and usually involves a bit of dancing. For more casual eats Sa Savina bar serves bar snacks and light lunches by day, cocktails and cabaret at night.
There are quite a few facilities here, but the infrastructure is a little random. The gym is open 24 hours for example, but the indoor pool and Jacuzzi are shut from mid-June to September. There are two, very pleasant and ultra clean outdoor pools, but neither is particularly peaceful if you’re here for a quiet holiday. The beach club at Cala Esmerelda is a nice touch, but also gets very crowded in high season.
It’s all about keeping families happy, and the hotel is particularly well geared to youngsters. Kids' discos, mini-clubs (for kids 4-12) and teen clubs (for kids 14-18, lots of sporting activities and a chance to make friends with people of their own age) is all part of the package, which frees up adult time for a few sneaky siestas.
