It’s on a quiet side-street in the most villagey part of Kemptown, with the beach within easy walking distance. If you want to have a go at stealing Snooze’s signature retro-chic style, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in the many bric-à-brac and homeware shops on nearby St George’s Road and Upper St James Street.
Each of the eight rooms is a one-off hotchpotch of vintage finds – a leather chair or trio of flying ducks here, a floral basin or psychedelic cushion there. One room has a wall papered with Edwardian nude photos, another is a riot of cheesy Indian adverts and bright, Bollywood colours. There’s free WiFi throughout.
The stairs, the landings and the dining room are decorated with more oddments such as framed record sleeves and old enamel signs, while graffiti art jumps off the dining room ceiling and the garden walls.
Eating and drinking
Breakfast, served in the supremely groovy dining room, is well worth surfacing for, but if you reckon you deserve a duvet day then the staff will be happy to rustle up breakfast in bed.
The staff are efficient and friendly.
