Although the hotel is located on the Kurfürstendamm, one of Berlin’s most famous avenues, it doesn’t have the best location to explore the city. It can be found at the street's western end, on the border of the Wilmersdorf district, a 10-minute walk west of Adenauerplatz U-Bahn station.
The rooms are sparsely but tastefully designed and come with either a bath or shower. Furnishings are retro-futuristic pieces by the likes of Arne Jacobsen, along with specially created pieces by young German designers. The colour scheme is based on Le Corbusier’s colour series - rooms on each floor have individual colour combinations. A nice touch is that the beds are raised on platforms and piled high with pillows and down duvets, making for a very comfortable rest or sleep. In fact, all materials used are suitable for allergy sufferers. The television cabinet is also on wheels and can be moved around the room.
There's a bar and lounge area and at the back of the hotel you'll find a peaceful garden to relax in. There's also a "Landscape room" featuring contemporary art, intended to soothe the mind.
Eating and drinking
The seventh floor breakfast room is one of the hotel's big attractions, offering views across the city’s rooftops. The generous buffet is good too. The 101 Lounge Bar serves drinks and snacks all day and sometimes has a live DJ in the evenings.
The hotel’s range of wellness services includes massage, acupuncture and reflexology and there are also aromatherapy steam baths to take advantage of. if you're aiming to keep fit you can ask a personal trainer to create an individual fitness programme for you. Private lessons with a qualified yoga trainer are also available.
Service is friendly and open, with a good level of English spoken.
