For over three decades I have been fortunate enough to have travelled around Europe, Central America and America , writing and broadcasting about the various destinations I hav e visited, for both national and weekly media, and radio. I also present travel updates on local radio and script national radio on a daily basis.
Although my commissions have mainly ben abroad, recently I have been looking at Scottish destinations which may be of interest to those planning a trip home as part of the Hoecomming Scotland Year, which has just started.
Favourite places -During my career, I have been privileged to visit many destinations and have many favourites for many reasons. Before the current political turmoil, I was lucky enough to spend some time in Israel and found it a fascinating land, steeped in history. The rugged splendour and contrasting coastline of the little known area of Abruzzo in Northern Adriatic coast of Italy is another area worth returning to.
If it's the Wow factor you're after, head for Dubai. I love it. But if you want to relax with the Caribbean on your doorstep and a jungle backdrop, then my favourite is the Myan Peninsula in Mexico, where you have the added attractions of Myan ruins and culture and swimming with dolphins and whale sharks.
For a City Break its got to be Madrid or Barcelona, but a trip to Marrakech with a mule ride into the Atlas mountain s to a remote Kashbah is still on the agenda for a return visit.
