From humble beginnings on a Tennessee farm, country and Western music superstar Dolly has given the world hits such as Jolene and I Will Always Love You during a career that has spanned nearly five decades. She’s starred in movies such as 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias. Dolly’s theme park, Dollywood (www.dollywood.com) celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2010.
Dolly also founded the Dollywood Foundation, to inspire children in her home community to dream, learn, do and care more, and in 1988 she founded a group of dinner attractions called Dixie Stampede. In 2001, she built Dollywood's Splash Country, Tennessee's largest water park. Dolly Parton's entertainment businesses attract 4.5 million visitors annually and employ more than 3,000 people.
She has won seven Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards, and three American Music Awards and is one of only five female artists to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award. She is also a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
