With great countryside producing even greater wines, the Hunter Valley of New South Wales is a natural magnet for anyone with an interest in good food and drink

Unfortunately this doesn't seem like an insider's guide at all - both the wineries and accommodation are obvious and large. No matter how well a guide is written, if the reader does not feel that the content is valuable then it will not score highly.

Unfortunately, I wonder if he was still jetlagged when he wrote this article. It is rather dull and not very inspiring. This is more of a name drop of who he met rather than a guide. I am going to Hunter Valley next month and I will have to go elsewhere to get a better review of the area. Sorry...

I found this review a bit dull, hard to read and lacking in detail. It definately wouldn't inspire me to go to the Hunter Valley. It seemed to be more about the writer and the people he met with rather than the food and wine of the Hunter Valley!

The review mentioned several of the larger and more popular vineyards in the hunter valley but failed to mention many of the unique, boutique wineries which I would have liked to read about.

I love the Hunter Valley and have been there several times, the atmosphere is very relaxed and you can visit as few or as many wineries as you wish. Many of the wineries are family owned and run which means you get to wine taste with people who are really passionate about what they do. You can do tasting at the cellar door and if you find something you like buy a bottle or two and take it home with you!

The Hunter Valley is only a few hours drive from Sydney and is the perfect weekend getaway. Incidentally I do not know anyone who has been to the Hunter Valley and not enjoyed it!
