Best for Chilling out - Expert review of Xlendi Bay
Xlendi is one of Gozo’s two resort villages - and by far my favourite. The tiny patch of pebbly-sandy beach is at a premium but there is lots of room to laze on the rocks and a whole bay of beautiful blue water to swim in. There are plenty of shallows for younger children, as well as rocks to jump or dive off into the deep. The snorkelling is good too - even right next to the shore. Divers, particularly the less experienced, also frequent the bay.
In summer, the seafront is given over to cafe tables and chairs and there are plenty of places to eat. Walk along to the headland and take a look at Xlendi Tower, built in 1650, the first of several built by the Knights of St John's as defence against invaders, smugglers and pirates. The point also has wonderful views.
