Expert review of St. Lawrence Market

A hall full of food and history

This old Victorian market is a great place to pick up picnic ingredients on your way to the Toronto Islands - or to stock up on provisions if you've got an apartment when you're in town. Even when I'm not out doing the shopping, it's still always tempting to pop in here and see what strange spice or rare tea in in one of the hundreds of stalls and stores. The other big draw is for the tasty peameal bacon sandwiches that Carousel Bakery sell - on the ground floor, down the right hand side - it's one of the few distinctively Ontario specialities that exist and it's delicious.
