Expert review of Hospital de los Venerables
Founded as a hospital and refuge for aged priests, this 17th-century baroque building is most notable for the symmetry of its central patio, with its trees and sunken fountain, and surrounding colonnade supporting a second storey gallery. In fact the building itself is worth a visit, even without the exhibits. The church alongside features paintings by Valdés and Lucas Leal, and sculptures by Pedro Roldan. There are also concerts and temporary exhibitions.
4.75 euros, or 2.40 euros (pensioners and students).
