Expert review of Contemporary Art Centre of Andalucia
The Contemporary Arts Centre was founded in 1990, and can be found at the Cartuja Monastery, on the site of Expo '92. The permanent collection focuses on the history of contemporary Andalusian art and the way it relates to other Spanish and international artistic contexts, and includes works by, among others, Luis Gordillo, Candida Hofer, Rebecca Horn, Pablo Palazuelo and Joseph Kosuth. The centre also aims to study of the creation of artworks with seminars and workshops, lectures, meetings etc. The monastery itself is an important historic building, and the visitor can see the old chapels and cloisters, the gardens, and the old pottery kilns.
