Best for Escapists - Expert review of Walk of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei)

Walk the Walk of the Gods.

You'll discover a totally different side of the Amalfi Coast, far from the designer shops and chi-chi restaurants; here you'll be in nature with only the sounds of the birds and the occasional clip-clopping of a heavily-laden mule as it's led along the narrow paths.

If you want to get away from it all, taking a three- to four-hour hike high above the sea will be an excellent way of doing it, and it will afford you some fabulous views too! Take a bus up to Bomerano in Agerola (not far from Furore) and, in the main square opposite the church, you'll see a red and white sign that is the start of the route that takes you through Nocelle to Arienzo and on to Positano (note that there are around 1,700 steps down to Positano at the end). If you don't want to go down to Positano you can carry along to Montepertuso.

Expert tips:
Take plenty of water, a sunhat and sunscreen.
