Expert review of Spiaggia del Fornillo

Discover Positano's secret(ish) beach.

The main beach in Positano is easy enough to get to. Just follow the crowds down the street and you'll arrive. The trouble is it's totally overlooked and doesn't really feel secluded enough to get your kit off and race into the waves. Spiaggia del Fornillo, however, is a 10-minute walk away but unless you know, you'll never find it. Head to the right-hand edge of the beach, past the Covo dei Saraceni hotel and the ticket booths and take the little path upwards. The Via dei Positanesi will take you first past Lo Guarracino restaurant and if you carry on walking you'll arrive at a much quieter (and, in my opinion, much prettier) beach where you can really relax. When you get a bit peckish, head back up to Lo Guarracino for a piece of pizza…

Price advice:

Beach chairs and umbrellas can be hired for around 10 euros.

Expert tips:
Keep an eye out for the Torre del Fornillo watchtower.
