Expert review of Platja de Pals

Expansive, family friendly, sandy Blue Flag beach near Begur.

Just a short drive north of Begur is the small hilltop town of Pals but if you head along the coast, its beach is famous for its three and a half kilometre long sweep of fine, golden sand along the bay. This is one of the larger beaches along this stretch of the coast and it’s also deep with nothing behind you for quite some way apart from the odd beach bar or xiringuito. It’s openness to the elements also means it sometimes gets windier than the smaller beaches so it’s big with surfers and windsurfers as well as families and local teenagers. (It’s also safe for children, as there are no rocks, apart from at the far ends.)

Expert tips:
There are kayaks and windsurfing equipment for hire from stands along the beach.
