Best for Romance - Expert review of The High Line Park
The High Line Park in the Meatpacking District is one of my favorite new destinations in New York, and judging from the crowds I am not the only one who thinks it is an amazing example of urban reinvention. Formerly an above-ground freight train track that transported, among other things, meat from the slaughterhouses nearby, the mile-and-a-half-long line has now been transformed into an elevated park that runs from the Meatpacking District through Chelsea and all the way up to the Javits Center. I love the way it’s been planted with beautiful flowers and think it’s also fun that you can peek into buildings as you make your way uptown. All in all, it’s a lovely new place to take a stroll and take in an example of true creative restoration.
