Expert review of Casa de America

Experience the culture of Latin America in Madrid

The Casa de America organises a dynamic programme of exhibitions, talks, films, concerts and children's activities.

The exhibition areas are located behind the main building, the Linares Palace, which gives onto the Plaza de Cibeles and was designed at the end of the 19th century by Carlos Colubi and Adolphe Ombrecht for the Marquis of Linares. It is well worth taking the tour of the palace to see the lavish interior and learn about the unusual circumstances of the Linares family. I won't give it away here, but will just say the palace is rumoured to be haunted.

There is a pleasant terrace cafe too.

Price advice:

Exhibitions are free. Guided tours 7 euros.

Expert tips:
Make sure you book the guided tour in English.
