Expert review of CaixaForum
Art in all its forms in a stunning building - and it's free too.
Designed by Swiss architectes Herzog & de Meuron, CaixaForum only opened in 2008 but immediately made its mark alongside the big three museums along the Paseo del Prado. As well as the three or four temporary exhibitions on at any given time, there is a varied programme of concerts, talks and other activities. There are no permanent displays at the moment, although La Caixa, the Catalan savings bank behind the project, has an impressive art collection and shows selections from it here.
Price advice:
Free.
Expert tips:
Get there early for major exhibitions, as queues form at peak times.
Don't miss the attractive cafe at the top of the building.
