Could this be the most iconic sign in the world?
The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign needs no introduction, although you may not know that it says "Drive carefully, come back soon" on the back. It was constructed in 1959 but it's only in the last couple of years that you've been able to see it safely, with the construction of a carpark in the middle of the highway. So you can now take your picture in front of the sign without worrying about getting squished on the run back to the car. If you feel like it, you can also get snapped with one of the many Elvis impersonators who tend to hang out there.

Completely free, although the Elvis impersonators expect a hefty tip if you pose with them.
Expert tips:
The sign is only accessible when you're going south.
Try to avoid peak times such as Sunday afternoons, when the Californians are driving home - it's a nightmare to park.
