Expert review of Stratosphere tower
It's no wonder the Stratosphere dominates the Strip - at 1,149 feet, it's the highest tower in the entire United States. Since it's at the very northern end of the Strip, the views of the hotels and the neon lights aren't as stunning as from the Eiffel Tower, but where the Strat comes up trumps is its views of the surrounding countryside - the Las Vegas valley is surrounded by mountains, and this is absolutely the best place from which to see them.
If you're feeling daring, there's an arrray of funfair rides on top of the tower - either blasting you up in the air, dangling you off the edge, or, the scariest - the Skyjump, introduced this summer, is a freefall of 800ft down the side of the tower. Needless to say, I have yet to try it.
Access to the tower costs US$15.95 although for guests it's included in the resort fee. The Skyjump costs $99 and is non-refundable if you wuss out.
