Best for First-time visitors - Expert review of Sunset Strip
The Sunset Strip (as it’s affectionately known by tourists and locals) is home to some of Ibiza’s most iconic bars (Café Mambo and Cafe Del Mar) and is widely regarded as the birthplace of chill out music. These days, a stroll along the promenade at dusk is a far cry from chilled out, as there are so many people around and so many promoters trying to entice you to a bar or club, but one thing remains the same – the simply incredible view each and every night as the sun sinks into the Mediterranean Sea, the sky awash with beautiful colours and the emotional vibe it creates among the crowd. I will never ever get tired of watching the sunset in Ibiza for as long as I live. Excuse me while I wipe the tear from my eye… again!
Obviously the sun sets all year round, however in this particular famous spot it's best visible between May and October - after that, the sun's position moves around to the left of the island. After October, the conditions change and all the bars are boarded up to protect them from the elements, making the Strip a very seasonal attraction, which is why I try to make the most of it in summer.
Of course the sunset itself is free, but the view from surrounding bars and restaurants come at a pretty steep price – expect to pay around 4 euros for a coffee or 7 euros for a beer or glass of wine.
