Best for Culture - Expert review of Wong Tai Sin Temple

"Something Strange in the Neighbourhood? Who Ya Gonna Call?" Wong Tai Sin!

No problem is too great or too small for Wong Tai Sin, and Hong Kongers flock here to pray for advice about jobs, love life, family problems, and "what the future holds".

It's a tremendous spectacle, with the very traditional temple and its surrounds wreathed with incense smoke and framed by residential blocks and mountains behind.

The strip of fortune tellers are only too eager for you to cross their palm with silver (the folding paper stuff is better) though the advice they proffer is to the point and not exactly open to endless discussion.

This is Hong Kong's most dramatic temple, not least for its location right next to the MTR exit.

Price advice:

There is a donation box, if you fancy contributing to the temple's upkeep.

Expert tips:
The temple is deluged with worshippers at Lunar New Year.
