Expert review of The Hampden Experience
It may not be the Nou Camp in Barcelona or the San Siro in Milan but Glasgow’s Hampden Park has a historic legacy to rival any great footballing city. As the official birthplace of international football (in 1872) and once home to the world's largest football stadium (in 1937 Hampden had a record breaking capacity of 183,724) this stadium and museum tour is a fitting tribute to the country’s past, present and future football legends.
With more than 2,500 exhibits, visitors can rub shoulders with the country’s footballing legends, including Kenny Dalglish, Dennis Law and Willie Miller, and fans can experience the world famous Hampden roar by walking down the tunnel onto the pitch. It’s enough to bring tears to the eyes of any true Scotland fan, which very definitely includes me. I’ll go and get a hanky.
