Expert review of The Burrell Collection

Glasgow’s finest museum collection is an award-winning tribute to fine art.

Sir William Burrell remains one of Glasgow’s most famous sons – and with good reason. The shipping magnate collected a treasure trove of art throughout his life – including important works by Rembrandt, Rodin, Degas and Cézanne and examples of late medieval, Chinese and Islamic art – before bequeathing the entire collection to the city. A rather nice gift wouldn't you say? It’s one of the greatest collections ever created by one person and should not be missed.

Expert tips:
Kids will love the arms and armoury gallery.
Don't miss the chance to explore Pollok Park, which has some of the best woodland walks in the city.
Did you know that The Burrell Collection is home to a special casting of Rodin’s The Thinker?
