Expert review of The Wine Museum La Baranda

A taste of Tenerife's wine – if it was good enough for Shakespeare...

Canary Malmsey wine was once considered to be the best wine in the world and Shakespeare received a barrel as part of his annual stipend.

Way off the tourist trail, the beautiful 17th-century La Baranda wine museum chronicles the history of Tenerife's viniculture and has over 300 types and labels of local wines, including Malmsey.

There's a tasting room so you can try before you buy, and an excellent restaurant on site.

Expert tips:
Don't miss the adjoining honey museum and buy some authentic Tenerife honey to take home, it's delicious and cheaper here than in many other outlets.
