Ancient street underneath The Royal Mile, opened to the public after hundreds of years.
The Real Mary King's Close is not for the faint-hearted. Yes, there are haunted houses in every fairground from here to Timbuktu...but this is the real thing.

Adults £11.50, children £6 (see below for age advice).
Expert tips:
Book ahead in the high season as it is very popular attraction.
If you don't like enclosed space this may not be for you.
I would say most kids under eight may find it frightening, though the stipulations is no-one under the age of five.

Amazingly well preserved under the present day Old Town, this remnant of Edinburgh's early streets shows how crowded and claustrophobic the medieval city must have been. Curiously some of the business premises were still occupied only 100 years ago.
