Expert review of Wild Wadi Waterpark

Dubai's first waterpark continues to draw the crowds.

While Aquaventure on the Palm Jumeirah may have stolen its watery thunder, you can't forget Wild Wadi, the city's first centre for splash-tastic rides, sat just next to the famed Burj Al Arab. Packed full of tunnels, wave pools, ridiculous surfing simulators and rapids that fire rubber-ringed guests up and down narrow tubes, this is still among Dubai's favourite attractions, despite being among the oldest. An afternoon can easily be spent cruising around the lazy river or - if you're brave enough - hurtling down the sharp incline of the bizarrelly-spelled Jumeirah Sceirah. Alternatively, ditch the kids there for a day and you're unlikely to hear a complaint.

Price advice:

A day pass is 200 dirhams for adults and 165 dirhams for children under 1.1 metres tall. There are often offers so it's worth checking out the website. As it's owned by Jumeirah, all (as far as I am aware) of the Jumeirah hotels offer free day passes with each room, plus shuttle services.

Expert tips:
Busier on Thu/Fri.
Very hot during summer.

Wild Wadi is really good fun, but beware of the Jumeirah Sceirah water slide, very scary - you will definitely have to relax in the lazy river after!
