Expert review of The Gate Village

A charming assortment of galleries and bars in an urban setting.

Tucked away at the back of Dubai's answer to Wall Street, the Dubai International Financial Centre, sits a rather unusual, but extremely cool area known as the Gate Village. Nestled amid several modern towers, the Gate Village is home to host of art galleries, fashion boutiques and smart restaurants and bars, all linked via a large wooden walkway. Its location means that it's usually the pinstripe suits of the local financial crowd making up the numbers (certainly in the local outpost of famed-Japanese eatery Zuma), but if you'd like to spend a few hours inspecting contemporary Middle Eastern art and several well-stocked international collections in the various galleries, this is well worth a visit. You can always pop into the bars for a drink afterwards.

Price advice:

The galleries are all free to enter.
