Discover Dubai before all the big shiny towers showed up.

If you're at all curious about what Dubai looked like when it was just a small coastal village, the Dubai Museum is a great place to find out. Built in the 1700s as a fort primarily for sea defence, the museum houses a replica 1950s souk, plus an impressive dhow boat hanging from the ceiling. 

Price advice: 

Adults 3 dirhams, children 1 dirham.
