Expert review of Dubai Fountain
In a large manmade lake between the world's tallest tower and the world's biggest mall, naturally you'll find the world's squirtiest fountain. Shooting water 150 metres into the air, the Dubai Fountain comes alive each evening, with a rather OTT (but fun) sound and light show accompanying an elaborate watery performance involving over 22,000 gallons of airborne water. It's absolutely free to watch, and most visitors do so by the sides of the lake, with the Burj Khalifa looming impressively in the background. However, if you fancy sitting down, try to grab an outdoor table at mOre Cafe. Or for something more sophisticated, head to the Rivington Grill. Both have great views. Be warned, the performance starts again every 20 minutes in the evening, so you're likely to see it a few times if you're having several courses.
Here's a good fact to impress your friends. The name 'Dubai Fountain' was chosen from a naming competition with, apparently, over 4,000 entries. Just imagine how unimaginative the other options were.
It's absolutely free to watch.
