Dubai Creek

The Dubai Creek may be a bustling centre for incoming boats (mainly traditional wooden dhows) stacked high with all manner of random goods, but it's also the perfect way to spend a couple of hours. You can get an abra (small wooden taxi boat) across the water to the Deira side with the other commuters, or for something more private hire one out for a tour up and down the creek. It's a world away from the glistening towers and excessively-starred hotels and a real chance to capture the real heart of the city.
