Best for Romance - Expert review of El Puertito

Escape to Tenerife's Shirley Valentine beach.

Completely off the tourist radar, towards the westerly edge of Costa Adeje, is the quiet cove of El Puertito which has all the feel of a beach on a Greek island.

A tiny, golden sand beach lines an idyllic bay where fishing boats bob gently at anchor and the Atlantic does a passable impression of the Med, lapping gently at the shore. It's no frills and no sunbeds, just perfect, unspoilt peace and a small restaurant/bar/cafe to keep hunger and thirst at bay.

Expert tips:
Avoid here in late July, August and early September when hordes of illegal campers descend on the bay and all peace is lost.
