Best for Romance - Expert review of Rosenborg Slot (Castle)
A fairytale Renaissance castle in Copenhagen city centre.
Complete with its moat, ornate gardens and basement crown jewels, 17th-century Rosenborg is a proper, storybook castle. The summer home of King Christian IV, this Dutch Renaissance style pile is packed with historical interest (laid out chronologically in its 24 rooms).
The gardens behind the castle form the city's oldest public park, a great picnic spot with plenty of shade as well as summer performances at the marionette theatre.
Price advice:
It is 55 krone for adults and 45 krone for children.
Expert tips:
Check out Christian III's jewel covered sword.
Consider taking a picnic to enjoy in the beautifully manicured public gardens.
