An eclectic and unexpected museum treasure.
While Copenhagen isn't short on cultural riches, Davids Samling is a particular surprise. Known in English as The David Collection, it's a wonderfully quirky collection of bits and pieces including 19th-century French furniture and some dazzling Islamic and Middle Eastern art. Some of the rooms are a bit like walking into Aladdin's cave - there are ruby encrusted daggers and an amazing ancient Egyptian rock crystal jug.

The excellent fourth-floor Islamic and Middle Eastern art collections are a must.
The 18th and 19th-century French and English furniture collections offer an interesting counterpoint to the chic, modern lines of more recent Scandinavian furniture.
