Best for Watersports - Expert review of Dun Laoghaire
I head to Dun Laoghaire on a weekly basis to cycle/walk/run or just breathe in the sea air. If you're a sailor, or a swimmer, you'll find plenty of like minded individuals lurking around every corner, and the Forty Foot pier at the end of the promenade is a popular spot for swimming, especially on New Year's Day. There are beautiful walks along the promenade and if you're a seafood lover, there are plenty of tasty cafes here, especially Cavistons, one of my recommended restaurants. This really is a beautiful spot, accessible by buses and the DART rail line from the city. Plus, it's a fantastic base for touring pretty surrounding sights such as Killiney and Dalkey Hills, Vico Road, Dalkey Island and Village and the James Joyce Tower to name but a few.
