Expert review of River Dee boat trips
Life takes to the river during summer in Chester, and the tour boats offer a new look at the city you’ve come to know. You’ll depart from The Groves and sail under the Queens Park suspension bridge and up past one of my favourite places in Chester - the Meadows, before turning around and sailing back.
There’s also a two-hour outing to see the estate of the Duke and Duchess of Westminster.
Boats sail every day between Easter and Hallowe’en, and only at the weekends during winter. Ok it’s chillier, but there are fewer tourists so more space to sprawl out.
It’s not cheap (adults £6.50, kids £2.50), but the little ones do love it. You can also get a combined ticket with the City Sightseeing bus and save a few quid. Make sure you ask when you buy your ticket onboard the bus or boat.
