Expert review of Chester Cathedral
A simply stunning place of worship in Chester.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, cathedrals aren’t my bag. But taking this purely as a piece of architecture, it is truly magnificent. Visitors from across the globe flock to admire it, and I’m always astounded by the dark, raw beauty of the building. Whether you worship at the altar of Christianity or not, I defy you not to be impressed.
Price advice:
Admission is £5 for adults, £4 concessions and the kids – if you can drag them in there – will be charged £2.50. Special events and services will close the cathedral at certain times, call or check online to be sure it’s open when you visit.
Expert tips:
Groups should book ahead to avoid service times.
You’re in the heart of the city centre, so factor the cost of parking into your visit if you’re driving in.
