Best for Families - Expert review of Techniquest

A giant playground for the kids... And the big kid in you!

I’ve loved Techniquest since I was a kid. And I still love it now. Science so engaging it feels like a massive playground, the whole family can get carried away in the centre’s vibrant, open plan hall. Techniquest allows you to literally get to grips with the principals of gravity, lightening, engineering, sound waves, energy and plenty more. From one puzzle to another, it’s like the best day in school you never had.

One of the first buildings to take residence in Cardiff’s bay side development, sadly its rusting facade isn’t as bold and contemporary as it once was, but its floor to ceiling windows still provide a fine view over the bay for parents who’ve reached science saturation.

Price advice:

Adult entry costs £7, children get in for £5.

Expert tips:
Watch out for the shop! There are many cool gadgets and puzzles to attract the children; your visit might be more expensive than you thought.
Parking can found opposite in the Mermaid Quay multi storey car park at £1 an hour.
