Best for Chilling out - Expert review of Hove Esplanades
Regency terraces provide an elegant backdrop to this civilised stretch of seafront.
Broad enough for a truly relaxed stroll, Hove’s esplanades are my favourite part of Brighton’s nine-mile seafront. You’re surrounded by grand seafront mansions, inviting lawns and jaunty beach huts; to the east there are fine views back towards Brighton Pier. The beach in this part of town is always quieter than in the centre, making it a great place to chill out on a sunny day, or watch kitesurfers scudding past when it’s breezy.
Expert tips:
The Meeting Place Café near the Peace Statue, the angel at the east end of Hove Sea Wall, is a refreshingly down-to-earth spot for a drink or a snack, right beside the beach.
