Expert review of Cycling along Brighton seafront
This is one of the very best ways to enjoy all that healthy Brighton sea air.
Jump on a bike in the centre of town, make for the seafront and you have two, equally appealing options - ride east along Madeira Drive and on towards Saltdean, or west along Hove’s elegant esplanades towards Shoreham Harbour. From end to end, it’s a glorious nine-mile ride on the flat, along an almost unbroken series of cycle lanes. There are great views of the ever-changing coastline as you go.
Price advice:
You can rent bikes from M’s Cycle Hire in Shoreham By Sea (07852 986165, www.m-cyclehire.co.uk, open daily 8.30am-6pm, adult bikes from £15, delivery service available).
Expert tips:
The Undercliff Path east of Brighton Marina is intended for pedestrians, so cyclists using this path should be as courteous as possible. It can be unsafe in stormy weather.
