Expert review of Castle Mirador

Ruins of a medieval castle with spectacular coastal views

This is one of the best viewing points on the Costa Brava and you get a ruined castle thrown in for good measure too.  After you've whiled away some time in the plazas and winding streets of Begur's town centre, walk to the edge of the town and climb the path that winds up to the ruins of the 11th century castle that sits atop the village. The views of the coast and the surrounding countryside are absolutely breathtaking and there's a sundial map showing you where you're looking at in every direction.

Expert tips:
There are several designated car parks just below the village so if you’re driving, it’s best to leave your car in one of them – Begur is definitely best visited on foot.
