Grand landscaped gardens overlooking Bath.

I first saw these tranquil gardens when I was dragged around to look at schools as a child (Prior Park gardens are next to Prior Park College) and their grandeur and fantastic views won me over. Although I ended up going to a less scenic school, I often revisit the gardens for a picnic next to the lake, which features a stunning Palladian bridge (one of only four in the world). Famous garden designer Capability Brown had a hand in creating these beautiful gardens and it’s a great place to get views over Bath, or join the Skyline Walk.

Price advice: 

Adults £5, family tickets available. National Trust members are free to enter.

Expert tips: 
Dogs are allowed(on leads)Nov-Feb.
Tea-kiosk is open Feb-Oct at weekends and school holidays.
Get £1 off the entrance fee if you have a City Sightseeing or First Bus ticket.
The gardens officially close at 5.30pm, or at dusk which may be earlier.
Get discounts here with the Bath Visitor Card (available for £3 from the tourist office by the Abbey).
Two for one on entry with a train ticket, check the 'visit Bath' website for details as this offer tends to be seasonal Oct-Apr.
