Expert review of Museum of East Asian Art

East Asian art in the heart of Bath.

I love this dinky museum – I have a particular interest in Asian art, but for any visitor it is a treasure trove of exotic oriental arts from jade figures to dainty ceramics and artefacts dating back to 5000BC from China, Japan, Korea and South East Asia. Set out over three floors in a beautiful Georgian house just around the corner from The Circus, the MEAA also hosts community events from martial arts to mahjong.

Price advice:

Adult tickets are £5.

Expert tips:
If you have kids in tow look out for Saturday workshops in crafts like origami and paper lantern making.
Weird and wonderful events from Chinese tea tasting to erhu playing and Tibetan scroll painting take place here – check the website for info.
Free podcasts of performances/talks at the museum are available on the website.
Two for one on entry with a train ticket, check the 'visit Bath' website for details as this offer tends to be seasonal Oct-Apr.
Get discounts here with the Bath Visitor Card (available for £3 from the tourist office by the Abbey).
