Family fun in the Parc de la Ciutadella.
However you feel about zoos, it is nice to see one where the animals at least look reasonably warm (be warned that on those few days when the temperature drops below 13ºC, the animals are kept inside). Alongside the basking big cats, screeching macaws, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos and the rest, you’ll also find a ‘farmyard’, where the kids can stroke donkeys, horses, sheep and goats. There are also pony rides, a mini-train and some fabulous playgrounds, but the real highlight is the dolphin shows, hourly in summer, less frequent in winter. A timetable is posted near the entrance.

It’s not cheap to get in, but an annual family pass is 70.65 euros, or you can often pick up discount vouchers in bars and hotels.
