A deliriously kitsch fantasy of sound and light.

Built for the 1929 International Exhibition, the Magic Fountain (Font Mágica) was restored in 1992 for the Olympic Games and is still an impressive feat of engineering. Dancing jets of water are lit up with coloured lights (there are 50 different colours, apparently), and the musical selection runs a weird and wonderful course from opera to film soundtracks to cheesy pop. A favourite, of course, is Montserrat Caballé and Freddie Mercury singing ‘Barcelona’.
