Best for Watersports - Expert review of Bay of Alcúdia
If you’ve ever holidayed on the Costa del Sol, this stretch of Majorca is going to look familiar: lots of purpose built hotels and apartment blocks, overflowing with tat and themed pubs. The fact is though, if you’re travelling with kids or teenagers, it’s a great beach with lots going on ranging from the jet skis and banana boat rides, to more sedate scuba diving, wind surfing and sailing courses. The nicest beach for just chilling-out on this stretch is Platja de Muro, which has a couple of decent beach bars too. If you want to test the water before committing to a full-time course, www.alcudiaesports.com offers daylong sailing and windsurfing courses for beginner kids and adults. Excellent sea kayaking trips and scuba diving (PADI) are also available and can be arranged through www.oceanosub.com.
In the Puerto Pollensa www.tudordawnyachtcharters.com do a ‘fun day sailing’ excursion that includes unlimited use of the boat’s onboard water toys (boogie boards, jet skis, etc) and starts from as little as 40 euros.
