How to have a good night out in Costa Adeje

Far more low key than its cabaret centre neighbour, the bars and entertainment around Costa Adeje are relatively low key and if you want to notch it up, you'll need to head down the coast to Las Américas.

The best of the bars are around San Eugenio where St Eugene (Avenida rafael Puig Lluvina,35; +34 922 71 98 24) is popular with a wide range of ages and with families. Quality live cabaret and a dancefloor keep them packed out at weekends and busy most other nights. The Irish Fiddler and Temple Bar (Avenida España s/n; +34 922 71 62 92) is a popular venue with an unsurprisingly Irish theme and good cabaret.

Playing nightly at the In and Out Bar Restaurant (Playa de Torviscas s/n) on the beach at Torviscas are the excellent Soundchaser (www.soundchaser.net) whose heavy metal and rock and roll mix of their own material and covers has earned them a loyal Tenerife following. In the same area is the equally popular AJs Bar None (CC Centro Costa, Torviscas; +34 922 71 47 24; www.ajsbar-none.com) with its regular Robbie Williams tribute act and theme nights.

But for me, pick of the night venues in Costa Adeje is the trendy and stylish El Faro Chill Art (CC Torviscas Costa; +34 922 71 28 41; www.faro.chillart.org) which attracts the posers and the clubbers to its chic terraces and dancefloors. After 1am on a weekend, you'll be queuing round the block with hordes of local 20 and 30-something-year-olds, many of them getting their alcohol levels up before they get in rather than pay the inflated bar prices.
