How to have a good night out in Cascais
Cascais has a decent buzz of seaside bars. Most people start off with a few early evening drinks in one of the swanky hotel bars or expat pubs before moving onto late-night clubbing in neighbouring Estoril.
There’s a perennial pool party at the swanky seaside bar On the Rocks (Farol Design Hotel, Avenida Rei Humberto II De Itália 7; +351 21 482 3490) in Cascais. Regular nights are held here with a guestlist that reads like a who’s who of the Lisbon party scene – but the venue is usually open to all. Come for poolside sweet and sour caipirinhas, minty mojitos and olivey martinis, which are knocked back by body beautiful Lisboetas.
Of the many expat bars in the area O’Neill’s (Largo 5 de Outubro; +351 21 486 8230) is probably the best. A home-from-home for many, here you’ll find cooked breakfasts, stout, English-speaking staff and English sports. There is also live Irish music at least once a week.
