Family-run and family-friendly restaurant on Xlendi Bay.
A favourite with my family, Ta’ Karolina has tables right on the water’s edge –it's a lovely place for a lazy lunch or supper that doesn’t have to cost the earth.
Food and drink:
There is good Italian pizza, pasta, excellent fresh fish and other tasty Maltese and Mediterranean dishes. Also chicken nuggets and chips if your kids are that way inclined.
Ambience:
It offers laid-back al fresco eating (which is not a polite way of saying the service is bad!). There is also a pleasant inside
Service:
The staff are friendly, helpful and willing to adjust dishes to kids’ tastes.
Location:
It's in the corner of Xlendi Bay on the edge of a tiny sandy beach – perfect for the kids to paddle and splash while adults laze over a meal. For older kids there are steps up the cliffs next to the restaurant that should keep them happily exploring for a while. It's an exceptionally pleasant place to shade from the mid-day sun or watch the sun set over the bay.
Price advice:
Pizzas cost from under 5 euros, pastas around 6 euros; fish and meat main courses average about 15 euros.
