Expert review of Poutini's
Poutine — the staunchly Quebecois dish of fries, gravy and cheese curds — has taken over the late night, post-bar food scene in Toronto over the last couple of years. It might not sound the most appealing eat to non-Canadian ears, but it's huge in Toronto. Poutini's is one of the very best — with its hand-cut fries, real gravy and a slew of ways you have those fries (including vegan or with gluten-free gravy.)
Fries with dipping sauce or a selection of six different ways to have poutine - from the traditional variety with cheese curds and gravy to a bacon version to pulled pork poutine. Drinks include root beer, cream soda and vitamin water.
Pulled pork poutine, but try the traditional first if you've never eaten poutine before.
It's a clean, smart, brightly lit take away, but there are a few seats to munch down your fries. The old Insane Asylum grounds are just across the road, if you want to take your fries across to the grass to devour them.
Fast and efficient.
Within a couple of blocks of all the bars on West Queen West and Ossington.
