A great family-run Maltese restaurant in the middle of Sliema.

In a converted traditional Maltese bakery, Kris serves up excellent Maltese food at reasonable prices in a warm, friendly atmosphere. It's a favourite of mine, especially in winter. Just don't be in a hurry.

Food and drink: 

It offers excellent Maltese cuisine – ‘Dad’s famous braggioli’ (sliced beef wrapped around minced beef) and rabbit in garlic as well as fresh fish and other recognisable fare.

Ambience: 

Warm orange walls reflect the comfortable family atmosphere. The old bakery’s oven is still in situ and the walls are hung with traditional baking implements.

Service: 

The staff are good-humoured, if a bit too laissez-faire. Be prepared to sit over your meal. This is not a place for a quick bite.

Location: 

It's on a tiny alley off one of Sliema’s main shopping streets.

Price advice: 

Starters are 5-7 euros, mains 8-12 euros, and 'Dad’s Braggioli' 10.15 euros.
